In February 2008, our dear friend was tossed a giant wrench in his life that required a long stay in the hospital. We decided to give him a handsewn rabbit humbly designed with a pair of garden gloves to keep him company. We named the little rabbit, Harey because our friend was worried about losing his thick black hair. When we saw how happy Harey made him, we knew Harey was a special part of the healing process.

We began designing more animals made from garden gloves and eventually socks. Besides rabbits, our extended family of animals included pigs, dogs, cats, penguins, pandas, bears, an occasional cow and even an octopus. We named our collection “Harey Friends.”

It has been a labor of love to create each Harey Friend and sometimes they are very difficult to part with. But we know that each unique Harey will be a friend for life.

In honor of our friend, a portion of every Harey Friends sold is donated to the American Cancer Society.

For us, Harey represents true, heartfelt friendship when words are hard to express. We hope that Harey will muster a warm smile on your face because in life we could all use a Harey Friend.

We have two friends collaborating their two different talents to create each unique Harey Friend.
First sketches are done of animals with different facial expressions. Then these one dimensional drawings are turned into handstitched sock animals with a lot of personality. You can find a doggie with a comforting smile, a cat that’s filled with anxiety, or one happy cow. Whatever their mood, they all represent true friendship.

Because Harey Friends have buttons and are partially handstitched, they are not recommended for children under 8 years old.

If they need a bath, we suggest handwashing them with with warm water and mild soap. Air drying is preferred.
